Mark trusted Hornchurch Removals with the move of his six-bedroom house, one of the larger homes we move in the area. A house this size needs more planning, more people and a bigger vehicle than a typical flat move, and Mark chose our full service: comprehensive packing, secure transport and a careful setup at the other end.
Planning a Six-Bedroom Move
Every large move starts with a survey. A short WhatsApp video, or a free visit if you prefer, lets our team see the volume of belongings, the furniture sizes, the number of boxes needed, the access at both ends and the vehicle the job calls for. From that we decide how many movers to send and prepare a quote that already includes everything the move needs, so there are no unexpected costs on the day.
Packing a Large House
Packing a whole house is a job in itself. It usually involves a team of two to three experienced packers and can take a full day, depending on the size of the property and the amount of belongings. Heavy items such as books go into small boxes, lighter and bulkier things into large ones, and fragile pieces are wrapped individually and cushioned so nothing touches the cardboard. Every box is labelled with its contents and the room it belongs to, which matters even more when there are six bedrooms to unpack.
Furniture is wrapped in blankets and protective covers, and beds, wardrobes and large tables are dismantled so they fit safely through doors and into the vehicle. Wrapping, dismantling, reassembly and loading are all part of the service.
The Right Vehicle and Team
For a five or six-bedroom house we send a removal lorry and a team of five movers, so the house can be loaded in good time and nothing has to be squeezed in. Heavy furniture goes in first, with boxes and fragile items secured on top, and the load is strapped so nothing shifts on the road. Our 5-6 bedroom removals start from £1,200, with wrapping, assembly, loading, insurance and VAT included, and our London removals cost guide explains what affects the final price.
Access shapes a large move as much as volume does. Parking at both properties, the width of hallways and stairs, and how far furniture has to be carried from the door all affect how long loading takes, so they are checked in the survey before the day. For a house this size it is best to book at least a week in advance, although we always try to help with short-notice moves.
At the new home the team places each box and piece of furniture in its room, reassembles the beds and wardrobes, and makes sure the house is ready to live in before leaving. The team arrives fully prepared with its own tools for the reassembly and needs no help from you on the day.
