Got questions?
We've got answers...

  • Where is your storage site located?

    35a Marsh Way, Rainham RM13 8UH
Take a look at our London Storage Unit

  • What is the size of each container?

Each container is 155cm (5 feet) wide x 215cm (7 feet) deep x 245cm (8 feet) tall. This is 3.3 sq metres (35 square feet) and 8 cubic metres (280 cubic feet).

  • How many containers does a Romford home need?

One suits a town-centre flat on South Street, two a one-bedroom near the station, and three a 1930s semi on Brentwood Road, Mawney Road or Crow Lane.

  • Can storage help with a Romford chain?

Yes. Chains here often link a first-time buyer on Rush Green Road to a Mawney Road semi and a Balgores Lane detached, and storage holds your things if one link stalls.
    Romford removals

  • Why not use one of the Romford storage depots?

All four branded depots expect you to load a van and drive through Gallows Corner. We bring the container to your RM address instead.

  • Is it possible to fit large pieces of furniture inside?

Yes, it is very unlikely that an item of furniture will not fit.

  • Do I need to come to the storage premises if I’ve booked a removal and storage combined?

No. We can take your items and place them in storage without you being there. You can sign all the relevant documents online.

  • Is the storage site safe and secure?

Yes, they are fully alarmed with CCTV. The premises are protected by security fencing and gates as well as the required safety measures.

  • Are my items insured?

Yes. Each container has insurance for a total value of £2000. You can also purchase extra insurance if your items are worth more.

Self-Storage Romford

Romford: Secure Storage Collected from RM1 and RM3

Romford has more walk-in storage competition than almost any outer-London town, with four branded depots between Gallows Corner, Rush Green Road and Harold Hill.

Despite that density, every one runs the same model: you hire a van, load it on a residential street, drive through the Gallows Corner roundabout traffic, and unload into a corridor unit.

Storing with RMV in Romford means none of that. A container is delivered to your RM1 or RM3 address, loaded on the spot and taken, sealed, to our facility.

About Romford Self Storage Services

Our crew delivers a container to your RM1 or RM3 address, handles dismantling, wrapping and loading, and takes it to our monitored site.

The same sealed container is returned to any address on request. You skip the van, the fuel and the lost afternoon a depot expects.

As an AIM-accredited company, RMV has offered removals and storage in London for over fifteen years. Containers are stored in secure premises, with CCTV around the clock, intruder alarms and perimeter fencing, under full transit and warehouse-keeper insurance.

Containers are protected by CCTV at all times, intruder alarms, fencing and controlled gates.

When deciding is self-storage worth it, rely on credentials you can confirm. You will find the company story on our About Us page.

Paying for Storage in Romford

All our containers share one size: 155 cm wide, 215 cm deep and 245 cm high.

Storage costs £19.99 per container per week, so most two-bedroom homes in three containers pay £59.97. We collect from your RM1 or RM3 address, wrap, dismantle, transport and later deliver back, all for the same weekly rate.

No introductory pricing that later rises, no per-visit charge and no weekend extra. For affordable self-storage in RM1, add up what a depot really costs once you hire a van, buy fuel and load it yourself; our price already covers all of that. True storage cost includes getting your things there, so compare totals.

Storage is contract-free and runs on a monthly rolling basis. You can stop at any time, with no minimum term or exit fee: give at least 10 working days' notice, and storage is charged until the notice period ends.

It works as well for a short completion gap as for a year or more abroad.

One Container or Six?

A single container holds the contents of a large bedroom or a studio flat, the format filling the newer developments along South Street and the town-centre conversions above the shops around the Liberty and Mercury shopping areas.

Two containers comfortably hold a typical one-bedroom home. Three cover a standard two- or three-bedroom home, the dominant layout in the inter-war and 1930s semi-detached houses that line Brentwood Road, Mawney Road, Crow Lane, Rush Green Road, and the streets across Mawneys, Rush Green, and Upminster and Cranham.

Store a few boxes or a household and pay only for the containers you take. Try the calculator: list your rooms and furniture, and it shows the containers and live price.

Storage During a Romford House Move

Romford’s property market spans the widest price range in the London Borough of Havering, from town-centre flats within walking distance of the Elizabeth line to the £1m-plus detached houses in Gidea Park’s Romford Garden Suburb.

That spread creates long chains where a first-time buyer on Rush Green Road depends on a family upgrading from a Mawney Road semi who depends on a downsizer releasing a Balgores Lane detached.

If one link stalls, dates can move by weeks. A buyer in Harold Wood may be waiting on a sale in Gidea Park, and while that link is stuck, everyone in the chain needs somewhere to put their furniture. Storage covers the in-between weeks without a short let.

Our Romford removals crew handles the loading on moving day, the storage in between and the delivery when keys arrive. You deal with one team for the move and the storage, under one insurance policy.

Small jobs are just as easy: a room cleared for building work, furniture moved out for a new kitchen, or things that will not fit a smaller flat near South Street, our Romford man and van collects, loads, and delivers to the facility in one trip. Storage between moves is one of our most frequent jobs, done by a single team. You get removals and storage from the same fleet and crew, booked together.

Who Uses Self-Storage in Romford?

Romford's 1930s semis on roads like Brentwood Road and Mawney Road often have their garages converted into rooms, which leaves little space for storing anything.

Homeowners in RM1 and RM3 use furniture storage while extensions and garage conversions are built, and landlords with town-centre flats store furnishings between tenants.

Students renting in the RM postcodes store with us over the summer or during placement years.

Shops around the Liberty and Mercury centres and local trades use business storage units for extra stock and equipment.

Solicitors, dentists and accountants in central Romford keep years of paper records in archive storage rather than in their offices.

Garden furniture, barbecues and camping gear can rotate through seasonal storage, freeing up space in a Romford home.

A classic car, project vehicle or caravan that cannot stay on a Romford driveway can be kept in vehicle storage.

Bike storage units serve the cycling commuters heading to Romford or Gidea Park District line stations who lack covered parking at home.

Builders, plumbers and electricians around Gallows Corner and Harold Hill keep tools and materials in our containers instead of renting a yard. Clean, dry and ventilated, each container includes £2,000 of insurance, with extra cover if needed.

Packing for Storage

Taking care before storage keeps your items safe over time. Dust sheets for sofas, individual wrapping for glass and ceramics, and sealed covers for mattresses.

Packing ahead is easy: use the Romford packing service, or buy what you need from our Packing Shop with delivery to your RM1 or RM3 address.

The guides on our blog cover efficient packing and what our insurance allows. The price tells you what you pay; packing decides what you get back.

Coverage Beyond Romford

We collect anywhere in Havering and the neighbouring boroughs, with the same containers serving Gidea Park, Harold Hill, Upminster, Dagenham, Harold Wood, and Ilford. Shipping, customs documentation and container logistics for moves abroad from Romford are covered by our international removals service.

Items staying in the UK are stored at the same weekly cost, however long you are abroad.

Store as little or as much as you need in Romford, from boxes to six containers, with no contract and one weekly price. No driving to Romford or Thurrock, no queuing for a corridor unit, no padlock to lose. Call 0208 0900 232 or book through the website for a container delivered anywhere in Romford. Storage tips

Storing it the right way

Set a review date

Put a review date in the calendar on day one: six weeks of storage during a chain can quietly become three years. At each review, bring it home, dispose of it, or decide to keep storing it for a stated reason.

Is storage worth it?

Getting your things back

Containers are stacked, so give 36 working hours’ notice to visit your container or for a return delivery, including part returns. Load anything you might need during storage last, so it sits at the front, and keep an inventory.

How container storage works

Storage without moving

Many London flats have no loft, garage or shed. Containers can be delivered to your address, loaded and collected with no move involved, which suits bikes, seasonal gear or a spare room you need back.

Is storage worth it?
Geevithan Kumaran

Riki and his team were excellent. They were punctual, worked very efficiently and professionally. They also took great care to ensure none of our possessions were damaged. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly they got the job done. Riki in particular was very helpful to help us move on a Sunday before Christmas. I would definitely recommend their packing and moving service and understand they also provide a great storage service too.
