Self-Storage New Cross

New Cross Self-Storage Collected from SE14 Addresses

New Cross has one branded walk-in storage facility, Big Yellow on Lewisham Way, a ten-minute walk from both New Cross and New Cross Gate stations.

Beyond that, the nearest options are Henfield Storage in Southwark, Safestore at Old Jamaica Road in Bermondsey, and YouStock’s collect-and-return service operating out of a South London warehouse.

That gives SE14 residents a narrow range of choices, and every corridor-access depot assumes you will hire a van, load it on a Victorian terrace street where the only kerbside space is occupied by residents’ cars, navigate the A2 or Lewisham Way in traffic that backs up from the Marquis of Granby junction to Deptford Broadway, and unload into a lift or hallway unit yourself.

About New Cross Self Storage Services

RMV in New Cross takes care of all of it. A container is brought to your SE14 address, loaded by our crew with everything protected, and stored at our facility. At the end, we deliver the same container wherever you want it.

Over fifteen years in London removals and storage, with AIM accreditation, is what RMV brings to New Cross. Security at the facility includes 24-hour CCTV, intruder alarms and perimeter fencing, and we hold full transit and warehouse-keeper liability insurance.

The premises are secured by perimeter fencing, controlled gates, alarms and CCTV that runs 24 hours. Credentials you can verify independently are a better measure than an offer that ends after eight weeks. Read the company's background on our About Us page.

Self-Storage Costs in New Cross

The space inside each container is 280 cubic feet, from 155 cm width, 215 cm depth and 245 cm height. Pricing is simple: £19.99 weekly per container, which makes three containers £59.97.

It is all included: collection from your SE14 address, labour, wrapping, transport to the facility and return delivery.

No hidden extras: no rate reset, no per-visit fee and no weekend premium. Customers searching for cheap self-storage or affordable self-storage in SE14 will find that the total cost undercuts corridor-access depots once you add van hire, fuel, and loading labour.

The cheapest storage is the one with the lowest total cost, not the lowest advertised rate.

Month to month storage with no contract is how every booking works. You can cancel at any time, with no minimum term: give at least 10 working days' notice, and storage is charged until the notice period ends.

Short-term storage during a completion delay or long-term storage while abroad: both are covered.

Finding the Right Size in New Cross

A single container holds the contents of a large bedroom or a studio flat, the format that fills the newer blocks along the New Cross Road corridor and the conversions above the shops near Deptford Broadway.

For one bedroom, two containers is usually enough.

Three cover a standard two- or three-bedroom home, the dominant layout in the Victorian terraces that line Hatcham Park Road, Pepys Road, and the streets between New Cross Road and Brockley Rise. Four to six containers absorb the larger houses found along the wider roads toward Nunhead and Honor Oak, and the period properties in the Brockley Conservation Area.

A small storage unit's worth of boxes or large storage units for a home: you book exactly what you need.

The calculator on our site turns your furniture list into a container number, with the price updating as you go.

Storage During a New Cross House Move

New Cross sits in one of South London’s fastest-moving property markets. The arrival of the London Overground at New Cross Gate and the proximity to Goldsmiths and the Deptford regeneration zone have driven a decade of price increases across SE14, pulling first-time buyers into Victorian terraces that were once among the most affordable in inner London.

Chains here are long and unpredictable, a buyer on Hatcham Park Road depends on a sale in Brockley that depends on a completion in Catford, and when any link slips, moving dates shift by weeks.

It covers the gap without a temporary rental or imposing on family. Our New Cross removals team moves your home into containers, stores them for as long as needed and delivers to the new address.

One company, one crew and one insurance policy cover the whole move and storage.

Smaller jobs follow the same model. A single room clearing ahead of a rear-return extension, the standard renovation across SE14 where original Victorian kitchens open into narrow galley rooms, furniture removed during a loft conversion, or belongings from a rented flat being vacated at the end of a tenancy with nowhere to go until the next contract starts. Our New Cross man and van handles collection and delivery to storage in a single run.

Between-homes storage is common, and having one company for both jobs avoids two bookings. Can one company handle removals and storage? With RMV, yes, in a single call.

Who Uses Self-Storage in New Cross?

Storage facilities near New Cross serve one of the most densely rented boroughs in London, where Victorian terraces have been subdivided into flats, and turnover between tenancies is constant.

Homeowners across SE14 use furniture storage during loft conversions, rear-extension builds, and the damp-proofing and rewiring projects that period properties in the Telegraph Hill and Hatcham Park areas regularly require. Landlords managing multi-let conversions along New Cross Road and Lewisham Way rotate furnishings between tenancies.

Student storage London is a particularly strong demand driver in this postcode, Goldsmiths, University of London sits at the heart of SE14, and thousands of student’s clear rooms every summer, needing somewhere to hold belongings during the vacation break or between shared houses. The same applies to the Camberwell College of Arts students renting across the border.

Business storage units serve the independent cafés, vintage shops, and creative studios that have opened along Deptford High Street and the New Cross Road corridor, as well as the artists and makers occupying railway-arch workshops who need overflow space for materials between commissions.

Document storage and archive storage suit the solicitor offices and housing associations in the area, organisations with limited premises and years of records under regulatory retention.

Seasonal storage works for any SE14 household where bicycles, pushchairs, garden tools, and outdoor furniture compete for hallway space in a Victorian terrace where the only original storage was a cupboard under the stairs and a small coal cellar accessed from the rear yard.

A weekend-only car on a CPZ street in SE14 can be kept in vehicle storage instead.

Bike storage units serve the cycling commuters heading to London Bridge, the City, or along the East London cycle routes who lack covered parking in a shared hallway or front garden.

Garage storage units appeal to trades professionals across SE14, electricians, plumbers, and decorators working the Southeast London renovation market, who need a secure place for tools without renting commercial space on the Old Kent Road or Surrey Canal Road corridor.

Standard insurance is £2,000 per dry, clean, ventilated container, with additional cover available.

Packing for Storage

Storing long term is easier on your things if you prepare them first. Put mattresses in protective bags, wrap ceramics and glass individually and cover upholstered furniture.

Book our New Cross packing service to have everything packed before collection, or order supplies from the Packing Shop for delivery to your SE14 address.

Find packing guides and insurance information on what you can store on our blog. Look at the cost, but also at how your items are protected.

Coverage Beyond New Cross

RMV collects from every postcode across Lewisham and surrounding Southeast London boroughs. The same container service runs across Battersea, Brockley, Deptford, Peckham, Greenwich, and Bermondsey.

Going abroad? We ship from New Cross through our international removals service and deal with the customs paperwork.

You can leave anything not travelling in storage at the same weekly rate, rather than keeping a UK home for it.

A room's worth or a house's worth, New Cross storage with RMV comes insured, loaded and contract-free.

No driving to Lewisham Way, no corridor units behind a PIN-code door, no padlock to lose. For storage that comes to your door in New Cross, call 0208 0900 232 or book online today. Ready to rent a storage unit? Get a free quote today.

Storage tips

Storing it the right way

What fits in a container

Each container is 155 cm wide, 215 cm deep and 245 cm tall, about 280 cubic feet. As a rough guide, one takes a large bedroom or studio flat, two a one-bedroom flat, three a two-bedroom property, and five or six a four-bedroom house.

How container storage works

What you can’t store

Nothing perishable, such as food or plants. Nothing flammable or hazardous, such as paint, aerosols, gas canisters, petrol, fireworks or chemicals. Nothing illegal and nothing alive. Rugs, soft furnishings and mattresses should be clean and completely dry.

Storage rules explained

Your container is yours alone

Each container is allocated to one customer and sealed after loading, so nobody else has access to the contents. Containers are stacked inside a monitored, alarmed and access-controlled warehouse, not left in a yard.
