Self-Storage East London
Self-Storage East London, Secure Containers Collected Across Every E Postcode
East London stretches from the City fringe at Whitechapel through to the suburban edges of Havering and Redbridge, taking in six entire boroughs and parts of a seventh.
That spread means the storage market here is fractured, walk-in depots sit along the A12 and A13 corridors, but reaching one from a fourth-floor flat in Hackney or a Victorian terrace in Leytonstone still requires a van, a free afternoon, and someone to help you lift.
Self-storage East London through RMV removes all of that. We deliver a secure storage container directly to your address, our crew dismantles, wraps, and loads your belongings on the spot, and we transport the sealed unit to our monitored facility.
When you need everything back, the same container returns to whichever address you choose.
We bring the container to your door
RMV is an AIM-accredited removal and storage company that has served East London for over fifteen years. We carry full Goods in Transit and warehouse-keeper liability insurance, and every container is stored inside premises protected by 24-hour CCTV, intruder alarms, perimeter fencing, and controlled access.
Those verifiable credentials matter when the contents of your home or business are in someone else’s building. The full story of how the company was founded and the standards it works to is on our About Us page.
How East London Self-Storage Works
Every unit offers 35 square feet of floor space and 280 cubic feet of volume, at 155 cm wide, 215 cm deep and 245 cm high. A studio or a large bedroom fits in one unit. Two containers suit a one-bedroom flat, three cover a two-bedroom property, and five or six absorb the contents of the larger family homes found across Wanstead, Forest Gate, and the Romford Road corridor. You book only the containers you need, and the price scales linearly from £19.99 per week, no minimum square footage, no hidden access charges, no deposit.
Our crew arrives with protective blankets, dismantling tools, and a specialist trolley for buildings with narrow staircases or small lifts, common across East London’s mix of council blocks, mansion conversions, and new-build towers.
If the property sits in a controlled parking zone or a gated development, we arrange loading bay access or temporary suspensions, so the container van parks directly outside. There is no contract: rent month to month, and you can cancel at any time: give at least 10 working days' notice, and storage is charged until the notice period ends, with no exit fees and no minimum term.
Storage During an East London House Move
East London’s property market runs on tight timelines. Rental tenancies in Bow and Mile End end on fixed dates. Shared ownership completions across the Olympic Park developments slip by weeks. New-build handovers from Stratford to Barking rarely land when the developer promises.
Storage covers the time between leaving one home and getting into the next.
On moving day our East London removals crew fills the containers, and we bring them to your new address once it is ready.
One crew, one policy and one contact cover the move and the storage.
Not every East London move needs a full crew. A single room going into storage ahead of renovation work, a home office that needs to clear for a tenancy changeover, or a few bulky items that will not fit into a downsized flat, our East London man and van collects, loads, and delivers to the facility in one trip. That flexibility makes short term storage during removal a one-call booking instead of a logistics project.
Who Uses Self-Storage in East London?
Storage facilities near East London serve a catchment that runs from Tower Hamlets through Newham, Waltham Forest, and out to Redbridge and Havering. The use cases are as varied as the postcode range. First-time buyers renovating ex-local-authority flats along the Crossrail corridor use furniture storage while stripping kitchens and bathrooms. Landlords managing rental portfolios across Stratford and Canary Wharf rotate tenant furnishings between tenancies.
Student storage London picks up every summer from Queen Mary University in Mile End, the University of East London in Docklands, and the shared houses across E3, E7, and E15 that empty out when term ends.
Business storage units are a growing part of the East London picture. E-commerce operators based in light-industrial units off the A12 and Lea Bridge Road hold overflow inventory in containers rather than committing to larger warehouse leases.
Market traders working Broadway Market, Victoria Park, and the weekend markets across Walthamstow keep seasonal stock, display rigs, and gazebo equipment in storage between trading days. Document storage and archive storage suit the accountancy practices, solicitor offices, and NHS clinics scattered across the E postcode range that must retain physical records but operate from premises where every square foot is already committed.
Seasonal storage works for any East London household where the flat has no garage, no loft, and no shed, which describes the majority of the housing stock from Whitechapel to Ilford. Camping gear, winter coats, children’s outgrown furniture, and holiday decorations swap in and out of a container through the year. Each unit is kept dry, clean and ventilated, with standard insurance of £2,000 and extra cover if you need it.
Self-Storage Prices and Unit Sizes
Because every container is the same size, pricing across the E, IG and RM postcodes is easy to follow: £19.99 a week for each one you use.
Collection from your E, IG or RM address, labour, wrapping, dismantling, transport and return delivery are all in the price. There are no introductory-rate traps that reset after the first month, no per-visit access fees, and no weekend surcharges.
Customers searching for cheap self-storage or affordable self-storage across the E, IG, and RM postcodes will find that our total cost undercuts most walk-in depots along the A13, A12, and North Circular once you factor in the van hire, fuel, ULEZ charges, and physical effort those facilities expect you to provide yourself.
Wondering how much space you will need? Our calculator estimates containers from your furniture and updates the price instantly.
For a personal estimate, call 0208 0900 232 and our team will walk through it, whether you need a small storage unit for a handful of archive boxes, a room size storage unit for a full bedroom clearance, or large storage units covering the complete contents of a four-bedroom family home.
Packing for Storage
Before anything goes into long term storage, it pays to prepare it properly. Mattresses should be sealed in protective covers; glass and ceramics need individual wrapping; upholstered pieces benefit from dust sheets.
Our crew handles all of this during the loading service, but customers who want to pack ahead of collection day can book a separate East London packing service visit or order supplies from the Packing Shop, boxes, bubble wrap, wardrobe cartons, mattress bags, and tape delivered to any E, IG, or RM address. Read our blog for advice on packing a storage container and what our insurance covers.
Covering All of East London and Beyond
RMV does not operate from a single East London branch. We collect from every postcode in the region, E1 through E18, IG1 through IG11, RM1 through RM14, with the same service, the same crew standards, and the same pricing.
That means the container service available in Bethnal Green runs identically in Ilford, Romford, Chingford, and Hornchurch. If your move starts in East London but ends overseas, a corporate transfer, an extended sabbatical, a family relocation, our international removals service handles shipping, customs documentation, and container logistics from your door to the destination port.
Anything not travelling can stay in storage at the same weekly rate, a practical option for expatriates who want to keep things in the UK without a tenancy.
From a few boxes to six containers for a whole home, self-storage East London with RMV is insured, loaded by our crew and contract-free at a fixed weekly rate.
No driving to a depot off the A406, no hauling furniture into a hire van, no padlock to lose.

Storage tips
Storing it the right way
Your container is yours alone
Each container is allocated to one customer and sealed after loading, so nobody else has access to the contents. Containers are stacked inside a monitored, alarmed and access-controlled warehouse, not left in a yard.
How container storage worksSet a review date
Put a review date in the calendar on day one: six weeks of storage during a chain can quietly become three years. At each review, bring it home, dispose of it, or decide to keep storing it for a stated reason.
Is storage worth it?Ending storage properly
Give the notice your agreement requires and book the return delivery to whichever address you choose. Decide what is not coming home before the delivery: selling or donating from a warehouse is easier than from a hallway.
Storage rules explainedRMV Storage & Removals have carried out previous house moves for us, and we have always been impressed with their professionalism, patience and efficiency. No matter how large the load, everything is done with good grace and smiles. I would have no hesitation in recommending their services.
